In today's world, the life expectancy of severely disabled children born with Cornelia de Lange Syndrome (CdLS) can be glorious. They can thrive, and parents can hope for a near normal life expectancy if the medical problems associated with it are properly treated.
When it comes to murder and the shock, grief, and bereavement that follows, the word closure is a misnomer. When it’s applied to its victims, it gives no justice to them. Closure means it’s all finished, tied up in a ribbon, put away in a box, and accepted as done.
Murder never tucks away nicely.
Murder is gut wrenching panic and suffering.
Murder is a monster.
Murder is evil.
Murder is hell.
Forgiveness is the compelling validation that you have suffered, you struggle, but now you choose to thrive.
Forgiveness is a journey, a daily conscious victory of good over evil.
Forgiveness is the powerful gift a survivor gives to him or herself.
The devastating grief and bereavement that haunted you and drove you to the edge of insanity will always remain a part of life but it’s possible to emerge on the other side.
Forgiveness, however, is not required. There are some crimes for which exoneration and forgiveness are not humanly possible. This applies to a monster who committed a heinous murder against Adam, a helpless child.
With prejudice means the prosecutor can never file the same charges again; they are permanently dismissed.
Without prejudice means the prosecutor can file the same charges again; they are temporarily dismissed.
When charges are dropped without prejudice that person lives with the shadow of guilt forever.
Exoneration is the act of officially and legally removing the recriminations, accusations, allegations, and the indictment of a crime.
The same charges can never be brought again. The accused person is given the validation of: INNOCENT
A. The Arizona court system failed to prove Joyce was guilty so initially, the charges against her were dropped without prejudice.
B. They had another suspect.
C. The Attorney General failed to pursue this “other suspect” for eighteen years.
D. Adam’s murder became a cold case because the inept officials in charge conducted an incompetent investigation.
The answer to this question haunted Joyce in PTSD induced nightmares. It took eighteen years for the answers to emerge.
The condemnation, allegations and accusations against Joyce began with an incompetent criminal investigation that lacked a forensic examination of the crime scene. It only grew worse from there.
She invites you to see what she saw, heard, and felt as she said her first hello to her son, when he proves all the doctors wrong, becomes a medical miracle and survivor against the odds as he grows and thrives.
